09 March, 2006 : crunchity
i'm guessing that the guy sitting across from me is thinking "thank god she is done crunching that kashi cereal" this cereal is like little rocks. i was starting to give myself a headache with all the crunching. then i found some pretzels in my desk from yesterday and decided i was still hungry. i imagine he is thinking "for the love of GOD someone make her stop eating crunchy things!!" I almost asked him if it was annoying but then remembered the last time that i was silly towards a quiet coworker that i didn't know. matt was a graphic designer who worked down the hall at the university. one morning i found a" mr. potato head" hand in my bag (presumedly from ari. i don't normally carry around dismembered potato parts around). i stuck the hand in the doorway of his office and made it beckon and called out "maatttttt" in a sing-song voice. no reaction except to look at me like "why are you so weird and why do i have to work with you".
so i think i'll keep my crunching insecurities to myself.
i think i'm probably projecting my annoyance anyway. i wanted to stab this guy with a chopstick one day at the village wok. i was trying to write and couldn't concentrate because he was crunching all of the ice out his drink. i originally thought he was finished and was eating his fortune cookie. no. the waitress came up to him and said "sorry about the delay and proceeded to give him the crunchiest chinese food i have ever heard. he then ate another glass of ice and finished off with a fortune cookie. i think i was gritting my teeth the whole time. he was sitting far enough away that i shouldn't have been able to hear it. i can't imagine what it sounded like to him considering chewing usually sounds louder in your own head. if he was a cartoon he would have left with a chopstick dangling out of his eyeball.
last night i think i fell asleep while i was meditating last night. i'm not quite sure because it was extremely surreal and i have an adequate enough of an imagination to have been thinking about the things that i could have been dreaming. normally when i fall asleep i jump when i wake up and that wasn't happening.
