20 January, 2004 : owies

This was from Friday…

Yesterday after I got off of work, I was walking down the sidewalk when my ankle spazzed. It was one of those slow motion falls where you can almost stop it but bounce harder instead.. I fell on my hands and knees. hard. A very concerned student stopped and asked if i was "alright". My hands are kind of skinned up and I have a bruised/skinned knee. The last time my ankle decided to do this was when we were walking with k.'s parents and i nearly knocked his mother over with me. Anyhow, Ari was very impressed with the scrapes. he thinks "owies" are pretty cool and loves to play with band-aids(and also enjoys sticking them on unsuspecting people, I went to an x-mas party and someone asked me why i had a Scooby Doo band aid on the back of my sweater. i had no idea. ari just smiled mischievously.) so he had no qualms at all about poking around my knee. owwww! It only hurts now if i (or a goblin) touch it. As a result I am wearing a dress today. I stole a pair of k.'s socks and pulled them up under my knees. you can't tell I'm not wearing tights but i still feel incredibly awkward. also, my shoelaces are two different colors. Other than that. iIm fine.

After taking a shower last night I changed into my pajama's (yeah, when you have a kid, you don't get to wear as many lingerie or slips etc. around the house as much anymore.) The shirt was a goofy shirt that i bought because it was very cheap and kind of sparkly and well, i admit it. I like SpongeBob. I thought Ari would be impressed when he saw it but his first reaction was "is that mine??!" It's a green shirt with a sparkly blue sponge bob which happens to be emblazoned across the chest. So, last night we were brushing the teeth, etc. He was standing on the closed toilet (so he can see himself in the mirror) and points to my shirt (which was exactly as his eye level.) and says Mommy, It's "SpongeBoob Squarepants". I couldn't stop myself from laughing or regain my composure enough to tell him to stop calling them boobs. I told his dad about it and his reaction was the same as mine. We were both a little taken aback by him talking about boobs, but mostly we were proud of his pun. It was his first pun! Maybe S.'s constant puns are contagious.
