14 January, 2004 : snuffle
I forgot to mention that Ari did get his handcuffs and pom poms that he wanted for x-mas. Out of all of the toys and presents he got they are his favorite gifts. This includes the Nintendo gamecube…Who needs that when you have handcuffs and pom poms!

His father seemed disturbed.

I just read back on the last few entries that I have written in here and noticed that I’ve written that I was a vegetarian for 6 years in almost every one of them.

I’m either a.) trying to prove something, b.) daft. c.) senile d.) all of the above

I think it’s b. & c.

The recipe from yesterday:

(it’s from vegweb.com)

I omitted the chickpea water and added soy milk as a substitute b/c I wanted it to be creamy..and I left out the lemon and margarine. Oh, and we added a lot more curry than 1 T.

Chana Masala

Ingredients:

• 2 T vegetable oil

• 1 medium onion, chopped

• 1 large clove of garlic, minced

• 1 T curry

• 1 T tomato paste (I used ketchup, how embarassing :)

• 15 oz can of chick peas drained, reserving 3 T liquid

• 1/2 T lemon juice

• 1/2 t salt

• fresh black pepper

• crushed red pepper, optional to taste

• 1 T margarine

Directions: Heat oil on medium high heat. Fry onions until slightly browned. Reduce heat to medium. Add garlic, curry, and paste. Stir and simmer about 2 minutes. Add chick peas, liquid, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Simmer 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add red pepper to taste. Add margarine, stirring through to melt it. Stir and simmer for 5 minutes more or until peas are softened and dish is hot. Serve over rice.

Tonight we are having vegetarian sloppy joes. S. is making and he’s never used tvp before. Not that it is intimidating; it’s just kind of weird the first time.

I would be helping but I am, ahem.... meeting my therapist in a Long John Silvers. Yes, A Long John Silvers. The practice that she worked for re-located so she doesn’t have an office for now. She asked me to pick a place that was quiet and nearby. My first thought was the bookstore..no no, too noisy…and then I remembered that there are never customers in Long John Silver’s. I’m fine with meeting her there but it’s kind of embarassing when we talk about my problems and she uses the same level of voice that she would as if we were in private! I know, most people are probably not paying attention and like I said, they never get any business but some people did notice. She has a loud speaking voice and a strong personality. (S. is scared of her) It was amusing to see the boy sweeping the floor’s face turn red when she boomed something like the word “orgasm” (I don’t’ remember what we were talking about.) Aghhh. There were a couple of times where I wanted to disappear altogether. Hopefully it will be even more abandoned tonight. I barely feel comfortable telling her these things let alone the bus boy. Earlier that day she had met a different client at a church and accidentally said the word “fuck!” really loud. So I guess it could be worse.
